DCU president James Gunn says further Superman: Legacy casting news will be revealed soon after the actors’ strike ends. The hiring of David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan as Superman and Lois Lane in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy sparked excitement in June 2023, followed by the news of four additional members of the DCU’s Superman: Legacy ensemble. Hawkgirl is played by Isabela Merced, Mr. Terrific is played by Edi Gathegi, Metamorpho is played by Anthony Carrigan, and Guy Gardner is played by Nathan Fillion. However, casting announcements came to a halt owing to the SAG-AFTRA strike, which lasted three months.

Directors are preparing to reveal their casts as talks between SAG-AFTRA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers appear to be progressing well. In a thread on Threads (via ComicBook), James Gunn said that Superman: Legacy has recruited more cast members and that he will unveil them after the actors’ strike is over.

Who Is Still Available for Superman: Legacy?

Although narrative specifics for Superman: Legacy are scant, there are a few significant roles whose actors are expected to be named shortly. Due to the movie’s focus on Clark Kent, Superman’s best buddy Jimmy Olsen and Daily Planet employer Perry White may be notably crucial in Superman: Legacy; also, despite the fact that Superman: Legacy skips Superman’s early years, Clark Kent’s parents are also expected to feature in the film. Lawrence Fishburne played Perry White in the DCEU, Kevin Costner played Jonathan Kent, Diane Lane played Martha Kent, and Michael Cassidy played a very unclear Jimmy Olsen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The major villain in Superman: Legacy is the most mysterious casting in the film. Previous Superman films have included villains like as General Zod, Lex Luthor, Doomsday, and Darkseid, therefore these characters are unlikely to represent the major danger in Superman’s first DCU film. It’s feasible that Superman: Legacy may introduce the DC Universe’s Lex Luthor while focusing on a different foe throughout the plot. With a key villain role in Superman: Legacy, DC Comics villains such as Metallo, Parasite, and Brainiac may provide renowned or relatively unknown actors with several possibilities to leave their stamp on Superman’s film history.

Superman’s Kryptonian parents, Jor-El and Lara Lor-van, as well as Clark Kent’s boyhood pals and Smallville residents Lana Lang and Pete Ross, might also be named as Superman: Legacy cast members. Given that Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is part of the DC Universe’s “Gods and Monsters” chapter, Supergirl may also feature in Superman: Legacy, revealing whether or not Sasha Calle will continue in the role. Aside from the DC characters who often feature in Superman stories, James Gunn has the ability to surprise fans with the presence of any new or previously confirmed DCU character in Superman: Legacy.
